John Barry creates a marvellous score full of memorable and exciting tunes. While Bond Meets Bambi and Thumper and Death at the Whyte House are considerably slow-moving but breathtaking all the same, the best tunes are 007 and Counting and Bond Smells a Rat. Moon Buggy Ride has a certain charm but Circus Circus and Q's Trick take a while to warm to. To Hell with Blofeld is basically the same as 007 in some of the earlier soundtracks. The one tune out of this collection of 12 that I don't particularly like is Tiffany Case, which ends up sounding like something out of a TV movie. But despite this passable tune the rest is excellent and I strongly reccomend this to any Bond or music fan.

Another Bond theme for Shirley Bassey... but this time the tune is more haunting, like the film I guess, than her first belter - Goldfinger. Unusually, a version of the "James Bond Theme" has been omitted by John Barry (it is not on the soundtrack). Instead, we have to make do with a spiced-up version of his "007" in the ofrm of "To Hell With Blofeld" which is heard over the oil rig fight sequence.

"Moon Buggy Ride" and "Q's Trick" provide a relatively fast beat, the latter of which compliments other themes such as "Tiffany Case" and one of the "Diamonds Are Forever"... the trio demonstrating rather tacky lounge music (very good in relation to the film - very fitting).

Back on the haunting theme, "Death At The Whyte House", "007 and Counting" and "Bond Meets Bambi And Thumper" are all reasonable low-key yet provide just enough atmosphere to think about. The second of those three builds up the laser sequence (where military installations are zapped in a show of force by Blofeld) to such an extent that its almost scary!
