I think Thunderball is one of John Barry's best Soundtrack-Album. But this album is hardly Hi-Fi! So only four stars four this great album!

The consolidating on the work of Goldfinger, John Barry returned to conduct his fourth Bond score with continually excellent results. Once more the "James Bond Theme" and Barry's own "007" theme are interwoven into the film, but this time in a more thunderous (sorry) way to compliment the film's epic nature.

The last song on the soundtrack, "Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang", was lined up to be the film's title theme. (The nickname of Bond as "Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang seems to have originated from Japan where teh agent's popularity was as great as anywhere.) With only three weeks before release however, the producers decided on a different tack and gave Barry the job of creating a theme that reflected the film's name... hence "Thunderball". Notably too, the long "Thunderbaaaaaallllllllllllllll" given by Tom Jones at the end of the song caused him to flak
