British pop has a distinctive sound, pitzicato strings, elaborate horn arrangements; it may lack the raunch and authenticity of the US flavour but I love it. This CD is also of interest if you like garage psychedelia as it features pre-candystore psych Timebox and you can compare Peters Faces beaty version of 'Romeo and Juliette' with the awesome Michael and the Messengers version on 'Nuggets', both are brilliant. For pure soul feel this disc is great value. A great collection for driving on the motorway, you can play the 'Petula Clark or not Petula Clark?' game. My current in car favourite is the scorchin Stella Starr track, belt it girl!
