Product Description

From Amazon.com

You just need one look at Rob Zombie to know that the guy knows a thing or two about Halloween. He really proves his mettle--and his metal, for that matter--on this loud, garish, downright fun collection of rip-roaring devil's music. There's actually very little to be afraid of, to tell the truth--unless, that is, you have a phobia about the kind of goofy good times laid down by Zombie and pals like Rocket from the Crypt, Satan's Pilgrims, and the wrestling-masked power-surf combo Los Straitjackets (who turn in a hypercharged "Munsters Theme"). The garishly groovy package, which features some of Zombie's most over-the-top cartoon illustrations, is rife with haunting hoedowns like the Dead Elvi's "The Creature Stole My Surfboard." More fun than a coven meeting any day. --David Sprague

4.0 out of 5 stars "Scary? Scarily good actually!", 15 Sep 2006

(REAL NAME)
I took a gamble on this CD given that I'm planning a party for Halloween this year and on reflection I think it's a good choice. Aside from the instrumental cover of the Munsters theme you'll not recognise any of the tracks here at first glance but there are some real gems here. Particular favourites are "Gravewalk" and the atmospheric rock-n-roller-coaster "Creature Stole My Surf Board" by the Dead Elvi (plural of Elvis apparently). Naturally there's a tip of the hat to mid 20th Century horror b-movie culture through the frequent use of 50's-60's twangy guitar riffs - but the production is very much contemporary. There are a good few songs here to thread between your more familiar Halloween hits which might just raise a bushy eyebrow or a fang filled smile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fangtastic, 2 Oct 2006
By Chief Examiner (Bristol, UK) - See all my reviews
Great tunes, great fun. A bit of surf, a dash of psychobilly, and generous dollop of rock'n'roll help to make this a perfect good-time album. Put it on the stereo and you'll be dancing round like a zombie at a (g)rave. Sorry about the puns in the review by the way. Lots of highlights, for me the offerings by Satan's Pilgrims, Reverend Horton Heat, Deadbolt, Dead Elvi, and the Ghastly Ones are the stand outs, but actually they're all good, except for the badly misplaced lounge stylings of Frenchy.

Not just for Halloween - claw-tappingly good anytime!

3.0 out of 5 stars a blast for halloween parties, 20 April 2007
top partytunes for a halloween knees up. we had a wicked Halloween party recently with this playing in the dancing room and the notorious Raw Fear CD playing down in the (smoke machine filled) cellar for proper spooky atmosphere.. it worked an absolute treat, a great vibey party all round - we even ended up telling ghost stories all night and playing Murder In The Dark despite being in our late 20s!
