I first stumbled upon this band whilst looking for a Viable alternative tobands such as At the Drive-in and Planes Mistaken For Stars. Although thisquite different to both bands (no screamo or punk rock influences) I waspleasantly surprised.
This is on of the most defining Emo albums that i have been Privilegedenough to hear. Front man John Atkins Spills his heart into every song andu can defiantly tell, there is a power behind the music that most modernbands fail too capture (if u can call 1998 modern) and although it can bequite depressing at times, afterwards I felt uplifted and had a senserenewed faith in modern music, or at least what it is capable off.
When I first heard this album I had heard nothing like it before, ofcourse i noticed hints of sounds that I had heard from other bands, butthis was completely unlike anything else, perfect noise is a phrase thatcame to my mind constantly while I was listening to this. My only problemwith this album (and indeed with all relatively good modern albums) is itslack of popularity, it was released in 1998 and I am sitting here writtingthe first customer review in 2004. I strongly suggest more people starttaking notice of these smaller bands otherwise we will still have bandslike busted topping the charts 20 years form now!
If you are looking for something different from the music scene I woulddefiantly recommend this album. However if like I was, u are looking foranother Emo band like at the drive-in, I would defiantly recommendlistening to this before you buy it.
