3.0 out of 5 stars One in the ChickenEye for dull music..., 10 April 2005
If you've not heard Deejay Punk-Roc (and if not, why not) - the music is a mad mash-up, tongue in cheek big beat bonanza. Put together back in 1998 (!!) it still stands the test of time thanks to its relentless pace-setting creativity. From the opening madness of 'I hate everybody' you just know this isn't going to be your average long player. I first heard this album when someone popped it into the stereo at work (back in the day when I worked for a dot.com) and it blew me away. The record isn't without it's faults though, it doesn't really sit together as a whole. Whilst variation is good, the tracks sit next to each other like the way the chopped up samples do. They work, but individually. There are so many styles you feel like DeeJay Punk-Rock is putting together a portfolio of 'look what I can do' rather than concentrating on the task at hand. I'm just trying to be honest with my appraisal not criticise as this is a fine debut album and should be part of any music lover's collection. That's it other than to recommend a couple of other artists so if you like this album check out stuff by; the Scratch Perverts, Fatboy Slim, Dr. Octagon, Mylo, Medicine8 and the Chemical Brothers.
