Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

This hard-hitting look at the life of peacekeeping soldiers in Bosnia required a music score that would stay on the right side of melancholy. Having taken pains to elicit convincing results from his actors, director Peter Kosminsky (with whom Debbie Wiseman had previously worked on The Dying Of The Light) knew that semi-tragic would be the correct tone.

And once again Wiseman has pulled a rabbit out of one of her many hats. By layering ethnic flutes and voices into her score, she adds an otherworldly distance to the music. It relates to the action in its desired sad tone, while avoiding the emotive familiarity of the strings in, for example, her score for Wilde. Her themes are made the more memorable for being presented in these unpredictable formats: A nasal whine will stay with you longer than (an admittedly lovely) piano solo like "Twelve Hours". There's also a favourably miked percussive set that ripples under many of the cues and adds to the geographical dis-association. This is how all TV music should be in conception and result. --Paul Tonks

5.0 out of 5 stars If you loved The Warriors, You'll love this., 4 May 2002
This soundtrack is definately worth buying. These are the songs on it. The theme is the tune which plays at the start when they get on the train, similar to the baseball furies chase. Nowhere to Run is 'the hit with them in mind' from the dj after the leave where Cyrus is shot. In Havana, I honestly haven't a clue where this is in the film, the dj must have played it. Echoes in my Mind is the funky sort of tune playing when the dj first appears, it's actually a bit crap. The Fight is the fight in the mens room with the punks, starting as soon as the Warriors all break through the doors to fight. In the City is the tune at the very end during the credits.
Love is a Fire is the second tune played with the Lizzies, starting when it shows the record about to play (the one that the 2 girls dance to). The Baseball Furies chase is of course the tune played during the fight with the Furies in the park. You're Movin' Too Slow is the first tune played with the Lizzies. Last of an Ancient Breed is the song playing while the dj talks about the Orphans just after the Warriors escaped them by blowing up a car, I thought that the start of this song was fantastic in the film, but the rest of the song is no good.
Very good album, especially the Barry de Vorzon tunes, In the City and Nowhere to Run. BUT! I better tell you before you buy so you don't be disappointed like I was, the cool eerie tune at the very, very start where it shows the Wonder Wheel, is nowhere to be found on this cd. the back cover is red with the 5 front people from the front cover on it. the booklet consists of the cover, the inside picture, of the 6 remaining Warriors and Mercy all walking back on Coney Island (Vermin is behind Swan if you're wondering why he can't be seen), the 2 inside pages list the songs and that's it. Only 4 pages long. Still, if you love the film, you'll love this. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent soundtrack. , 14 May 2006
This is a great soundtrack to a great film. I loved the movie and its music so I knew this was a must buy for me. Its amazing how cheap you can pick this up for as the music is amazing and my all time fave soundtrack.

Enjoyed In the City at the credits of the movie? Couldnt stop humming that intro tune as The Warriors made their way across the city in the train? Always feel like dancing to Love is a Fire? If so then pick this up and enjoy the excellent music from the great film.

While the tracks in this collection are not as instantly recognisable to the masses as other films from around the same time, that does not make this a bad soundtrack. Read more
