CD Description
After disbanding in 1974, Robin Williamson and Mike Heron didn't play together until this concert at London's Bloomsbury Theater in 1997. Joined by an additional guitarist and a percussionist, the pair put together a set that is a celebration of The Incredible String Band's legacy. As they did on their albums, The Incredible String Band divides their selections equally between material written by Williamson and Heron. Also included here is Tom Paxton's "Every Time I Hear theSweet Birds Singing" and the Carter Family's "You've Been aFriend to Me" (which, appropriately, closes the show). Recorded live, direct to DAT, BLOOMSBURY 1997 captures the concert for all it was--a reunion between these two performers and their devoted audience. Williamson and Heron don't hit thenotes in the same way that they did in their 20s, but they're both consummate artists who imbue this performance with honesty and commitment. While this might not be the best album for a neophyte, it is a wonderful addition for any fan.
