Description
The gospel-influenced group that gave Atlantic Records someof its earliest hits and has LET THE BOOGIE WOOGIE ROLL to its credit is not to be confused with the quartet of the same name (also on Atlantic) lead by (among others) Ben E. King. These Drifters were conceived as a vehicle for frontman Clyde McPhatter, whose instantly recognisable high tenor was one of the greatest vocal sounds in early R&B and rock & roll.
LET THE BOOGIE WOOGIE ROLL essentially collects everything the Drifters ever recorded. The hits are all here--and all worth hearing--including the good-rockin' "Money Honey", "Such a Night", "Lucille", the original "Ruby Baby", and thegroup's classic R&B version of "White Christmas".
