Amazon.co.uk Review
Second time out for the Irish folk fusionists and it shows. Whilst the format remains much the same as their
Sin É debut (a mixture of upbeat instrumentals and slower songs), the production, arrangements and execution are all light years ahead. Of the instrumental pieces, "First House On The Moon" is the key, a choir-like vocal introduction blending into a surging Breton influenced dance track. Indeed, it's the tune sets that represent the greatest development, taking the Irish blueprint on a global journey that seems totally natural, never forced. "Wee Weaver" performs similar feats with Scottish tradition, Mike Cosgrave's trancey keyboards underpinning tablas, strings and yet another pristine vocal from Taz Alexander. The only time they come a cropper is with the closing dance mixes, the attempts to meld technology to their sound proving unsuccessful especially when compared to what would be achieved on
Deep Water Dropoff.
