Exhalt Your Senses, 12 May 2001
You have to be of a certain age (thirty-something) and have been in a certain place (Northern Ireland, late 1970s, early 1980s) to recognise the striking (if dilettantish) artwork adorning the cover of this compilation of the Complete Rudi - images that seemed to have adorned every nascent venue and club/local record shop at that time. This is accomplished New Wave - consummate songwriting, impeccable delivery, always within the genre - never stepping outside itself, no pretensions of grandeur, peerless in it's obscurity - but available now to all those who dare to reminisce on what might have been. Just what did our New Wave collective consciousness lose when the music industry so doltislhy ignored Rudi ?Time has left these gems unsullied, now new and exhilarant, fresh but strangey familiar. Just like it really was, at the grass roots of provincial garage. Exalt your senses .Add it to your collection - Now !
