Well, if you found your way here, I guess you know what "Ghost in the Shell" is then.
Mamoru Oshii's conversion of Masamune Shirow's cyberpunk thriller GHOST IN THE SHELL to the animated big screen was one of the biggest animated releases of 1996. But what made it special and stand out from the rest was its music; the creators didn't use heavy metal music to convey the cyberpunk culture or action scenes. In fact they do the opposite, they use deep and calming music, such as in the first scene in the movie, where the cyborg is being repaired, to convey the atmosphere, in this case it was purity.
All of the great tracks in the movie are on this CD, and what I like about it is it is rather simple music, but so powerful and engaging at the same time.
This is done by mostly choir singing with a slow, ominous drum beat and chimes that then turn into a deeper background of bass drums and synthesizer music.
The only drawback to this CD is that it is rather expensive, that that is due to being an import.
But I would definitely suggest getting this title, for people who like this type of music, or are just fans of the movie Ghost in the Shell. If you don’t have the movie either, I would suggest that too!

Anyone reading the miloismydog review will already know that this soundtrack is a an amazingly wonderful piece of music, so all I can really do is add my opinion to that excellent review and hope you folks out there will demand that this soundtrack be released worldwide so that we can all enjoy it.

As for the music, well it varies from dark and ominious to uplifting and inspiring - and that's just in the opening piece. After that we get variations on the same theme, yet each seems to offer something new so that the listener never gets bored.

If you're a fan of soundtracks like Bladerunner and Angel Heart I'd really recommend this to music to you. Sadly it doesn't include clips from the film yet it still manages to convey the powerful magic of the movie.

Be warned though - I bought an expensive version of the soundtrack only to find it was a damaged copy that plays badly. More fool me!! Take care folks..
