Coming from the awsome Warp label, this compilation of some of it's earliest trcks revives a time almost forgotten by music. In the early 90's before dance/techno etc started with breakbeats, there was Northern Techno, bass heavy, bleep infused floor shakers.Warp, were the ultimate pioneers of this, as this compilation shows. LFO's self titled track is less a single, more of a manifesto for the scene; Sweet Exorcist' "Test Four" is the very serious, hardcore, face; while Tricky Disco, takes the same bleeps used by Sweet Exorcist, and make the only novelty record which can cause structural damage on the right stereo; Forgemasters "Track With No Name" is what started it all. All the cuts on here are pretty much essential for those who want a full knowledge of how electronic music has developed.Buy it!!!
