5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect way to get in to a perfect band, 13 Nov 2001
By A Customer
The Triffids were one of those bands that have you cursing the general record-buying populace. They made a series of breathtaking albums about love and loss and regret - you know, all the biggies - only to be received with universal indifference. This album collects some of their best songs - dark, brooding classics all. 'Beautiful Waste' is an Aussie Born to Run; 'Save What You Can' one of the most moving ballads ever written and sung like an exiled god; 'Seabirds', which features lead singer David McComb's best lyrics and a cracking tune; 'Raining Pleasure' which never fails to send the mind and spine tingling, and the awesome 'Wide Open Road.'

David McComb died a few years ago, a sad loss to music. He one was of the great lyricists, his songs full of yearning love and burning hatred - 'Salty lips to taste/Skin to touch/In my arms it's raining pleasure' - no one captures the sheer intoxication of love like he did.

There is whole word to explore here if you want, and none of you will regret it. Australian music at it's best - and I've never been to the place.
