5.0 out of 5 stars Reliving the old Runrig magic again..., 12 April 2001
By A Customer
this is Runrig's 4th album released in 1985. dont be afriad to buy this album if you think that the old stuff is rubbish. believe me, it aint. this album really is top class.

it starts off with o cho meallt which is just a nice calm opening track that gets your spirits high. the darkest winter is one of those tracks that will stick with you. it is a song that you can sing along to. lifeline is more of a calm and easy going track. it has excellent guitar effects and really is a good song. air a chuan is a slow song in the form of a ballad only with more drumming. dance called america is a song you must know. another sing-a-long which will get your feet tapping . the everlasting gun is a song where it makes you feel good and you wnat to stage it live. it really is magnificant stuff. skye, well what can we say here. surely you must know it. cnoc na feille and the wire are both songs that will have your heart racing and you foot wants to tap. an ataireachd is a slow ballad that's sung well and the ferry is another calm song that tops off the album to a near end. the last song tuireadh lain ruaidh is an instrumental which makes this album trully excellent. it may be old but it really is a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not to be overlooked!, 7 May 2005
By Mr. M. Harrington (Somerset uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have been completely hooked on Runrig since the Amazing Things album back in '93 and I now have almost every cd the band has produced, so how I managed to overlook this little gem for so long I just don't know, I guess thinking it was an older album, It might not be so good, well I was just a little bit wrong on that account! - Heartland has taken up almost permanent residence in my CD player at the moment!
This album contains some great songs that no self respecting Runrig fan should be without "This Darkest Winter" and "Lifeline" are fantastic tracks that will have you singing along in no time - I couldn't get them out of my head for days!
"Dance called America and "Skye" are both brilliant tracks I'd heard live before, but these originals still held a couple of surprises for me. "The everlasting gun" and "The wire" are both the kind of atmospheric pieces that Runrig have always been such great masters at.
As usual there's a good sprinkling of Gaelic tracks including "An Ataireachd Ard" (The high surge) one you may have heard if you're a fan of Capercaillie, but this time given a liberal coat of Runrig gloss. The album then plays out nicely with the gentle guitar instrumental "Tuireadh Iain Tuaidh" (Lament for red Ian) originally an 18th century pipe tune.
If you're a Runrig fan then this is album is definitely one not to be overlooked!
