The Poison Boyfriend album shows us Momus (aka Nicholas Currie) at his finest.
The songs are all dark, but have that great understated sense of humour that is a Momus trademark.
Poison Boyfriend contains all 3 tracks from the classic single "Murderers The Hope Of Women" which to this day, remains one of the finest collection of songs to emerge from the 80's indie scene (sorry Mr Currie - you were on Creation at the time), but the rest of the album tracks are all equally well written and produced.The songs are mainly accoustic guitar with the odd bit of technology and dodgy drum machine thrown in for good measure, with Momus crooning, whining and pleading his way through the pleasure / pain world that he seems to be emerged in.
Momus has gone in a slightly different direction over the years, but Poison Boyfriend is a must for any serious fan of music. BUY THIS ALBUM.
