This album was recorded in 1975, just as ABBA were starting to gain real ground, and is a Swedish language album. It features a Swedish version of "Fernando", which she recorded before ABBA, and covers of many classics, including David Bowie's "Life On Mars", 10CC's "Wall Street Shuffle" and Judy Collins's "Send In The Clowns". The richness of Frida's velvet voice is to be revelled in, and even if you don't understand a word of the Swedish language, the emotion Frida imparts is very evident throughout. Produced by her then fiance and bandmate Benny Andersson, this album is a real must for true ABBA fans. If you enjoy a velvetty smooth, richly emotive, stunningly perfect vocal performance, then you ought to try this. It has magic that reaches out to you, and was not repeated outside of ABBA until 1996, when Frida stepped into a recording studio and emerged triumphant with "Djupa Andertag" under her belt (also available through Amazon). Don't miss out!

Anyone who hasn't heard Frida, one of the world's most magnificent singers of all time, as a solo singer in her own right, has missed out on something huge. This album is a breathtaking musical discovery. Frida's voice is rich yet emotional, stunning and stirring yet comforting - hauntingly beautiful. I would give this album ten stars out of five were that possible.
It's not necessary to understand Swedish to appreciate the qualities of the music, but, for the non-Swedish speaker, following the printed lyrics (obtainable from numerous books and websites) allows better appreciation of the wonderful pronunciations (as well as being a most enjoyable form of practice for the student of the Swedish language). The provision of printed lyrics on the CD sleeve itself could be suggested as a future improvement.
