Product Description

CD Description

The two-man English techno-pop band provides further evidence of its staying power on the duo's tenth album in as many years. COWBOY presents thirteen perfectly charming and elegantly composed dance tracks, rich with soaring melodies and otherworldly choruses sung by Andy Bell The technically impressive keyboard arrangements come courtesy of Bell's partner Vince Clarke. Standouts include the lush, romantic ballad "Worlds On Fire" and a cover Burt Bacharach's "Magic Moments",which Erasure originally recorded for the LORDS OF ILLUSIONsoundtrack. As irresistible as they've ever been, Erasure give no hint of winding down anytime in the foreseeable future.

4.0 out of 5 stars A familiar Erasure pop sound, with a twist of maturity, 11 Sep 2000
By Graham Fairclough (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Erasure are one of the most notable bands of the 1980's with that familiar electropop sound. Unfortunately, their 1980's image seems to have held this album back, which is a shame. This Erasure offering appears to have only sold to Erasure fans, but it deserves a wider audience. It has a mix of previous Erasure sounds, with the energy of their earlier work, mixed with a slightly updated sound. Vince's keyboard work is excellent and Andy Bell's vocals grab your attention with their energy. Tracks like "Save Me Darling" are of such typical Erasure style that they are probably preaching to the converted, but will set any foot tapping and all listeners will be singing along after a few plays It is a shame that this was never a single.

There may be none of the smash singles of the 1980's from this album (probably caused by prejudiced lack of radio airplay) but "Cowboy" is one of the best albums to sing along to you are likely to find. If you have ever liked the Erasure sound, buy a copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Throughout!, 20 Feb 2007
By 1997 Erasure were definitely losing out on airplay and exposure - 1995's 'Erasure' album was a little too different to the standard 3 minute pop song for a lot of people and I think 'Cowboy' passed by criminally unnoticed. The album is full of potential singles: 'Boy', 'Save Me Darling' and 'Reach Out' just for starters. Singles 'In My Arms' & 'Don't Say Your Love Is Killing Me' deserved far better chart positions than they achieved. Erasure went back to what they were best at and the result was a sparkling, upbeat album that always makes me smile. Get yourself a bargain with this one!
