5.0 out of 5 stars A musical voyage of the West Highlands and Hebrides., 5 May 2001
By A Customer
This is probably the most (pleasantly) haunting piece of music I have ever listened to; and hearing it again throws my memories right back to my 4 days backpacking in Knoydart. It evokes views of mountains that rise right out of the sea, of distant fishing boats plying between the isles, and of lonely deserted crofts in remote glens. But it's a complex CD with subtle changes of mood: some tracks are more evocative of cosy taverns with drinking friends gathered round a fireplace. I play this album in my car, to relax after a stressful day at work - and I drive safer and more considerate for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Haunting and plaintive, 4 Oct 2000
By A Customer
Capercalie are among the best of the celtic bands who furrow that path of the modern with a strong celtic sensibility. The overall impact is sombre and emotional, with a sense of wistfulness. Id recommend it loud of an evening as the light begins to draw in the and the leaves fall

4.0 out of 5 stars beautiful melodies, skillful crafting, 16 May 2001
By A Customer
from the lilting openeing track, this CD takes you on a changing journey of melodies and songs. many are in gaelic, but this does not detract form the superb melodies and crafted arrangemants. Some great tracks with an american influence. favourite imstrumental -Callum's Road. fave track Track 1 "An Gille ban" I have 5 Caprecailllie albums and this is the most lyrical and restful

5.0 out of 5 stars Karen surpasses herself
I have to agree with the last comment; on this CD is some of the most stunning music I have ever heard. Karen's voice has indeed been kissed by god, as Sean Connery said.
