A collection with a suitable name. There are loads of T-Rex compilations around, but this is the only one available now that manages to include all the hits from Bolan and T-Rex's entire career, spanning from the days of Tyrannosaurus Rex to Bolan's untimely death in 1977.

Emphasis is wisely put on the 1970-73 period, which was Bolan's artistic and commercial peak, and all the hits are included: Hot Love, Get It On, Metal Guru, Children of the Revolution, 20th Century Boy etc.

This serves as a good introduction to T-Rex, even if it would have been more satisfying with a double CD with a few more album tracks.

However, if you buy one Bolan album, this is a very good option.

T Rex are a band from my youth. Imagine my surprise when I put this on in the car and the kids started singing along.
How could they have even heard of Marc Bolan. Then it hit me.... Just how many of these
great songs are used in adverts or as background music in films and TV programmes.

Great album... a must for any Bolan or T Rex fans.. old and young.

Ater growing up with a mother who was a T-Rex fan and madly in love with Marc Bolan,it was pretty obvious that I was going to be the same. The Essential Collection has a varied content which will cater for all Marc Bolan fans.From songs like The Groover to classics such as Get it On,Jeepster and Hot Love. I sat and listened with a smile on my face thinking of my mad mother who still even now adores Marc Bolan.

This album truely is amazing.It caters for both old and new fans. Children of the revolution has to be one of the best songs ever written, what a brilliant selection of songs.
