This is King's X 6th studio album. To me , it seems like a slightly different direction in the sense that the songs seem more 'natural' and better produced than their earlier works. It is also co-mixed by the band themselves. Some great tracks on this album. From the rocky opener 'The Train', to the slow and lazy 'A Box' (which has a great chorus). 'Mississipi Moon' is written and sung by Ty Tabor, and it has a real bluesy/folk flavour to it I think, its just a *pleasant* song, like most of the stuff Ty does. 'American Cheese' is written and sung by Jerry Gaskill, the bands drummer, and reminds me of 'six broken soldiers' from the Faith Hope Love album. 'Fathers' is a very personal song written by Doug Pinnick. All in all, you can see how tight this band really is on this album (well, more so here I think than the others). It is a very mature record, seeing KX really come into their own without the constraints (managment, etc) of their previous material. This is one close-knit group of musicians, I just cannot understand how they are so sidelined, as musically they are head and shoulders above most current rock bands. Buy, and you will not be disappointed!
