I drop in the cd and press 'play'... and I'm back. Back to the days when anything was possible, the music brought us all together and would set us free...

This collection is another beauty from the Mastercuts stable. Every track is a jem and will instantly take you back to sun, sea, sand and love, love, love. From the hard to find and still superb 'La Passionara' through genre defining tracks like 'Sueno Latino' to the soundtrack that is 'Floatation' this compilation is timeless. Ending with what has to be one of the most beautiful tracks of all time - A Man Called Adams 'Barefoot In The Head' (Sally Rodgers we love you!!!) this is one collection you have to have.

Vol. 6 is an unusual entry into the Classic Jazz-Funk Mastercuts series because it strongly features Japanese artists and musicians. The result is a pleasing mix of Jazz cheese and sonic experimentation which will seldom urge you to reach for the skip button.

Particular standouts include the opening track, a light and bouncy re-interpretation of the classic 'Friends and Strangers' and the highly sought after club classic 'Trinkets and Things' which, as a 12" changed hands for a great deal of money.

The music is always tightly arranged, melodious and well orchestrated, but those who prefer the more soulful freeforming, or rowdy, shouty Acid Jazz will probably find this album lacking.

Vol.6 is not at all what you would call cool, but I absolutely love it!

This is easily the best out of the already brilliant Mastercuts series. This album is crammed with fantastic music, highlights being the amazing 'Mi Mi Africa' and 'The Music Inside You' (one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard). The thing that makes this album a 'must-have' is the fact that these songs would otherwise be near impossible to find. Mastercuts has obviously gone to great lengths to produce this CD so snap it up before these songs are gone forever. You won't get another chance!
