Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Blame Tricky and Portishead. They started this whole Bristol sound thing, with sleepy techno beats overshadowed by the chirrupy vocals of some slumberland chanteuse. And, just when you think the approach has lost all its steam, all its relevance, along comes a new outfit to make the music a few degrees sleepier and the singing a tad more dreamy. And singers don't come any dreamier than Skye Edwards, whose lissom trill infuses every track on this sophomore outing with a tranquil ennui. You don't jump around to Morcheeba numbers like "The Sea". You sit back and let them creep up on you, as steady as the tides. --Tom Lanham

5.0 out of 5 stars ...slowly slips into your consciousness, 18 Mar 2002
This review is from: Big Calm (Audio CD)
What a superb album! Its not the type I normally go for, being a rock fan, but this is so chilled out, original and melodic that its hard to imagine anybody not liking it! Slowly seeps into your soul, and the music becomes like an old friend you call upon again and again. Best track for me has to be the slow burning Blindfold, but its all very good, not an album you have to skip tracks on which is a rarity it seems these days. A Masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect stress reliever, 15 Mar 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Big Calm (Audio CD)
I first heard the opening track on a TV show and fell in love with it instantly - it kept slinking around in my head for weeks before I found out what it was. Then I heard the rest of the album and it has become one with my stereo. It's a delicious mix of beautiful music that should be allowed to wash over you OR as people about have said, play it really load and (try to) sing along with it. Skye's vocals ARE sublime, have to be heard to be belived. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big calm, no calm response 4 this great album., 18 Jun 2001
This review is from: Big Calm (Audio CD)
It usually takes time for a small band with a largely experimental small but great debut to progess. The debut was trippy and hoppy and had its moments of brilliance, without being brilliant at all. Whilst this is somewhat perfect.

You dont need a summers day, you dont need to be by the sea or anywhere near a park. This is sublime and not music to fall asleep to, but allows you to dream and escape whilst being fully awake to appreciate and remember every second, every note, every word that drips like honey from Skyes lips.

Im not going to talk about tracks because they mayb big songs and it mayb called big calm but this is ultimetly one big album. BUY IT! and dont lose it, i did (im sure it was stolen!) and i mist it, alot. In fact dont buy it you wont be able to live without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bouncy and melodic
Much more hip-hoppy than 'Who can you Trust?' but Skye's sweet voice still dominates the songs. Cheerful, with some funny lyrics, lively beats and tangy melodies.
