Product Description
Amazon.co.uk Review
Although Season Two of Babylon 5 merely improved upon the title theme instead of replacing it with something better, Christopher Franke's scores continued to grow darkly toward inevitable war. For an equally inevitable cliff-hanger ending however, a major turn of events allowed for a subtlety in the scoring that came rarely. To escape from a bomb Captain Sheridan jumps from a mile-high transport. His imminent death forces the hand of the ghostly guy-in-a-suit Kosh, who finally reveals himself to be the personal personification of an angel to all who see him. The cue "Kosh Unveiled" therefore opens in familiar dramatic style with pseudo cymbals crashing and a chiming effect ticking away the explosive's countdown. It continually builds on ascending chords, eventually enhanced by female chorus to a triumphant conclusion as they float back to safety. "Ivanova's Closing Statements" musically performs a moment's self-congratulatory optimism before a creeping piano line reminds of the lurking evil still to be encountered. This episode's music has a better second half than many of the others as a whole. --Paul Tonks
