4.0 out of 5 stars Still light years ahead of todays' electronic output, 29 May 2002
By A Customer
It amazes me that despite the huge advances in digital technology, most 'electronic' dance acts knocking around today still can't come up with anything as inventive as Yello's output (bar the disappointing Zebra), much of which was recorded during the early 1980's. The only problem with this compilation is that it should've been a 2-CD set as there's is plenty of material that could've been included, such as every track off 'Stella' in particular 'Domingo' and 'Stalakdrama'. While the dance stuff was great, some of the best material were the slower instrumentals that would've made great film scores. Nevertheless, there are crackers like 'Oh yeah' -used countless times in films - 'Tied up', 'The Race' and 'Lost again'. This is a good introduction to Yello but to get a full appreciation 'Stella' and 'You've gotta say yes to another excess' are the 2 most essential purchases.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential by name and Essential for all Yellowheads, 16 Dec 2000
This is a milestone collection for Yello. Every track is a set-piece and a real treat for casual listeners and music enthusasts alike. If you have a simple system the sounds will interest and get your feet tapping but if you have a serious system there is so much more. Each track has a complex mix of slamming basslines and tuneful melody that will challenge you; but will you rise to the challenge.

Buy this and you will know exactly what I mean.

A stand-out track is a tough one. My favourite has to be "The Rythm Devine". Shirley Bassie guesting on vocals makes for a remarkable collaboration with an amazing result. But elsewhere this CD will have you plundering Yello's extensive catalogue and dropping more and more CDs into your basket.

Trust me, I have most of Yello's stuff.
