Howie's second album is a damm near perfect excusion in how to create a jazzy, laid back, beat centered album to nod your head to.

in sharp contrast to the UNKLE Lp "psyence fiction" that i reviewed that was released witihn 12 months of this lp : underground secret Howie B's album "turn the dark off" from'95 is a joy. no pretensions, just great tunes, inventive beats,loops +samples. highlights include "fizzy in my mouth" - a moody intro theme with lovely strings and deep bassline and groove to it.
other personal fave tracks include "switch" (yes sampled by erstwhile producer switch himself on later releases)an uptempo tune for the dancefloor, as is "angels go bald" a groovy cheeky-retro sampling tune. the trip-hop/illbeint tune " and "who's got the bacon" is probably the best known tune on the lp, for it delicious mellowness.

fans of classic ninja tunes artists: hexstatic, kid koala,mr.scruff etc will love this album. a great lp chock full of tunes + grooves. BUY!
