Richter once said Mozart bored him, but then why did he record sonatas and concertos occasionally in the late part of his life? Maybe Mozart remained as an elusive enigma for him. These authorised recordings of sonatas, played more like Beethoven sonatas, somehow fail to lift and lack inspiration. This is the only volume I can live without among the entire 11 volumes of authorised Philips live recordings.
