4.0 out of 5 stars Bizarre visions of great oddness, 31 July 2001
By Dr. M. Scott (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
What odd music! I am not an analyst so I won't even try to be academic about this repertoire, suffice to say that someone once described this fringe composer's work as "Scriabin on acid"!! Perfect description - whereas Scriabin was a true (if demented) visionary, Roslavets comes across as an oddball trying to sound more twisted and disturbed than his compatriot. No wonder we haven't heard more of Roslavets! Hamelin plays stupendously as always - no better man for the task (I doubt if anyone else on the planet could even attempt to assimilate such outlandish pianistic bedevilments)!
