These Light music classics are perhaps a neglected genre today. The modern(1995)recording shows them up in a new light compared to the treasured recordings from the 1940's and 1950's. The livelier pieces show up the best,the Devil's Galop(which was the music for Dick Barton - Coronation Scot was Paul Temple) receives a particularly vivid performance.
Some of the slower pieces sound a little anonymous by comparison. Informative notes. A good selection which turned out to be the first of a series.

I wanted one particular piece of music, "The Coronation Scott", composed by Vivian Ellis. It was used as the theme music for the radio series Dick Barton special agent. I wanted it to complete a slide show I was working on, but I could not find in the shops,or on eBay. But I found it here, at Amazon. Wonderful.
