The first impressions of this excellent box-set are amazing. And this is even BEFORE you open it! The outside cover itself is decorated with the original Star Wars poster artwork and it really takes you back to that long time ago when they were first released. Unlike the Special Edition CD covers, this one will grab you even if you're not a die-hard Star Wars fanatic like myself.
When you finally get inside the impressive casing, you are greeted by a 64-page booklet that accompanies the set; with production pictures, storyboards - a nice read while listening to either one of the four CDs also enclosed. The discs are obviously one for each of the film three films, plus an outtake disc with music that was cut from the original trilogy. Listening to some of these deleted tracks you can't help but wonder they were cut and why Jedi Rock was later brought in on the Special Editions. But hey, that's the filmmaking process and George Lucus's vision.
The magical music of the other three discs realy plays the original films in your mind as you listen to it. Although it's hard to put into words, it can only be best described as an all-time-classic; the way that it was before the Special Editions. Don't get me wrong, I do like the Special Editions but Star Wars will always be what it was in 1977-1983 - the era when the music for this box-set was created.
Running in at just under five hours in total length, this product is worth every penny and I would class it as a Collectors Item. I would recommend it to anyone who is decisive about which Star Wars soundtrack to purchase.
The Force really was with John Williams back then when he began his reign as King of orchestral soundtracks...

The Star Wars Soundtrack Anthology got released in 1994 and it's the first time that "all" of the Star Wars music from the original trilogy was released together in one set all of the music in this version is from the original edits of the films not the 1997 releases, If you want to own near enough every piece of music made for the original trilogy you should own this alongside the RCA Victor/Sony releases.

This is a 4 CD set that comes in abox with one of the original poster arts on it each CD has it's on jewel case and over inside.

The first three CD's contains the scores from the films with each film having a disc the fourth disc has music from each film that in most cases wasn't previously released an example of this is Lapti Nek which is the song sung in Jabba's palace.

Also unlike the later releases of the soundtrack the sound quality on this releases is really good and it comes with really in-depth sleeve notes as well for every disc the only let down really is the cover art for the CD's isn't up to much as they are just black with the logos from the film that the soundtrack is from on them but other than that there is no problem defiantly the best soundtrack release for Star Wars to date.
