Product Description

CD Description

Although he began his career singing backup for musicians such as Lionel Richie and Madonna, Richard Marx made his markon the pop music scene in 1987 with his hit single, "Don't Mean Nothing". Over the next ten years, Marx racked up thirteen top five singles and four multi-platinum albums; his biggest are included on GREATEST HITS, including familiar songslike "Hold Onto the Nights", the sweet ballad "Now and Forever", and the kicky, uptempo "Satisfied". Other standouts include "Angel's Lullaby", which was included on the PediatricAIDS Foundation benefit cd, FOR OUR CHILDREN TOO, and whichMarx wrote for his young sons: "I was never alive til the day I was blessed with you/I hold you late at night/Knowing what I was put here to do".

4.0 out of 5 stars Lifting Music, 6 May 2007
By Mr. J. Hulme (uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Put this pretty boy music on and it will lift your mood. If you like your music happy go lucky and shallow then this is for you. I don't mean that as bad, it is just that, soft rock, middle of the road. It has some good bits and his voice is very good. If I ever want a good looking man to sing to me the odd sad love song?? I will slip this on also, Now And Forever is a classic, but I don't want to snuggle a cushion with a handful of tissues and remember past loves.
It is just something I won't be playing often all the way through. I got it as it was cheap and I liked his singles Hazard and Right Here Waiting.

5.0 out of 5 stars ** The perfect introduction to an amazing singer/songwriter!, 4 Sep 2003
By JLF "johnF" (Bristol UK) - See all my reviews
The perfect cd for an overview of the incredibly talented singer/songwriter's career. The quality on these 16 tracks shines through and this CD is a perfect introduction to his music- buy it you will not be disappointed.

Anyone who loves dark acoustic classics like Hazard, unforgetable ballads like Now and forever, Right Here Waiting and guitar infused pop songs like Take this heart, Don't mean Nothing and Satisfied, will be.

My favourite has to be the R & B influenced track Keep Coming Back - sung with so much soul; a rare feit for a white singer. It is no surprise to learn Richard has had several US number no1's and about 20 million record sales to boot. If you like this album you will love his 2001 release- Days in Avalon. Richard released this on his own label which did not have the resources available from a major label (when they feel like it.) The quality surpassed his previous albums and is definitely worth buying on import from Amazon

Richard has just signed a new record deal with EMI in the USA - a new Cd expected spring 2004. Let's hope it sells- the mainstream needs something more than manufactured so called 'cool' acts.

If you buy just one CD this month- make it this one - you will be enlightened.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless love classics that stir memories ., 28 Sep 2000
By A Customer
Richard Marx was reknowned in the eighties for his superb love ballads, with his distinctive smooth tone. Classics such as 'Hazard' and 'Waiting for you' really are love songs at their best and it astounds me that he isn't around now because their is no doubting his quality as an artist. The ballads 'Angelia' and 'Now and Forever' reinforce his claim to be one of the best writers of the last century. A truly wondferful collection of some of the best love songs ever written.
