It goes without saying that when Bing Crosby recorded the song "White Christmas," he set a standard that has yet to be reached. A few singers have come close, but none have surpassed his warm delivery. This collection, bearing the classic's name, is Bing at his holiday best. Whether he's swinging with the Andrew Sisters in the jazzy "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" or swaying with the same trio in the sassy, island-esque "Mele Kalikimaka," Crosby always hits his mark. His ability to capture the spirit of each song and embellish it with his own characteristic croon makes the sprightly "Christmas in Killarney" another signature song. The romantic "I'll Be Home for Christmas" becomes even more poignant with Bing lending his pipes. A reverent "Faith of our Fathers" is included here, along with "Silent Night," "Adeste Fideles," and "Silver Bells." A superior lot.
