For a soundtrack it is not bad, but for an album compilation it is excellent! The selection of songs are well done and really remind you of the film when you hear them. After seeing the movie I was really looking forward in obtaining this album, but was a little dis-heartened to find out several tracks were a little disappointing. These are the 'inspired by tracks'. The Charlatans track is terrible, Ani Di Franco's 'Joyful Girl' is fine by itself, but what's it doing here?, this song belongs on a chill-out album or something. Moby's 'Shinning' is also great, but again doesn't quite fit. Lunatic Calm from 'The Matrix' appears, which is an excellent track, but I felt it should have been left off and saved for 'The Matrix'. The other reason why this didn't recieve 5 stars is the fact that one major song which featured throughout the film was omitted, and that's Massive Attack's 'End Track'. The song is actually called 'Dissolved Girl', but for some reason was re-titled for the film, maybe due to contractual problems or something. This same song also featured in 'The Matrix', and again it was omitted from the album. Maybe Massive Attack have strong copyright laws or are strongly tied to their contracts. Anyway this album got four stars, not as a soundtrack, but as a Jackal-like compilation with great songs and a killer sound. Five would have been awarded if that bloody Massive Attack song was included.

THE JACKAL SOUNDTRACK IS NOT REALLY AS BAD AS I'VE MADE OUT BUT THE FILM IS MILES BETTER AS YOU PROBABLY ALREADY KNOW........THE ONLY REASON I BOUGHT THIS ALBULM IS FOR ONE SONG FROM THE FILM THE BIT WHERE THE RUSSIAN AGENT GETS KILLED BY THE JACKAL EXTREMELY COOL SONG BUT THE REST OF THE CD ISN'T GREAT!!PERHAPS WORTH BUYING FOR THAT ONE SONG BUT YOUR CHOICE.

If you like metal music but techno music too, you will love this CD. It's a beautiful mix between these two kinds of music ! And you'll find somme big artists !
