Great Music from One of the Best..., 18 Sep 2003
It is such a shame to see a great band like Green Day being the target of so much negative criticism (or it seems that way here in the States). Here is a band who can make great music, are incredibly impressive when performing live, and they never seem to put out an album with the sole purpose of being popular or on TV so much. (If that were the case, they would release more albums at a time.) Green Day is one of my all time favourites and they continue to do nothing but impress me. "Nimrod" is an excellent album with a ton of great songs.You can see how much the band has matured and how they have grown musically. They are always willing to try new things, which is something you really see lacking in some of these newer punk or alternative bands. The guitar playing is great, the drumming is always impressive, and the singing and lyrics are reflections of top-notch talent. EVERY song on this album is great, but here are some of my favourites: hitchin' a ride, the grouch, nice guys finish last, worry rock, scattered, king for a day, walking alone, prosthetic head, and time of your life. (Seeing the song "king for a day" performed live really enriches the song and makes you appreciate it more, which is why it is one of my favourites.) Green Day is a fabulous band who has never disappointed me once. I just think they got popular too quick and then people started burning out on them. It is a shame, because they are a great band who can play some amazing music. If you love to hear outstanding music from an exceptional band, Green Day's "Nimrod" might be the CD for you. Definitely worth checking out!

opening up with the punk rock all fans expect in 'Nice Guys Finish Last', Green Day are quickly stating that they are back and ready to rock the house and they don't care who is offended.Green Day fans will be given an impeccable album highlighted by 'The Grouch', 'Good Riddance(Time of Your Life)' and 'Hitchin' a Ride'. This album was released in 1997 and all Green Day fans were happy that after two years of no albums from Green Day, the band returned better then ever. Billie Joe Armstrong continues to show his increasing talent on vocals and guitar throughout as does Mike Dirnt on bass and backing vocals and Tre Cool on drums. In 1995 the addictive album Insomniac was released, providing fans and newcomers to the band with the tunes and lyrics they wanted. However, in the album people disputed that even though the songs were short and addictive there was room for improvement and maybe more mature vocals to be done. So two years later Nimrod was released, this album having seventeen tracks where Insomniac only had fourteen. And along with the speedy punk rock are some slower songs which show the maturity that the band have achieved over their two year break from the music industry. By the end of the album fans will be totally happy with the quality of Green Day's third major album, you will play it over and over again. Altogether, this album proves the fact that all Green Day fans believe in, "Green Day Rule"!

Nimrod - A New Hope, 28 Nov 2004
I was first introduced to GreenDay with the album Warning. I, unlike many GreenDay fans, thought the album was fantastic. This was probably more to do with the fact that I had never heard them before than anything else. Anyway, after liking Warning so much I decided to buy their back catalogue. Nimrod was the first album I bought and boy was I impressed!!! I loved Nimrod so much! It is so different to Warning yet it just completely blew my mind. I delved deeper and bought Dookie and Kerplunk. Ever since that first song on Warning I have been a GreenDay fan. Nimrod was kind of the official starting point for me because it turned out to be my favourite until American Idiot came out earlier this year and I have to admit, I cannot fault that album. It plays in my car, my home, at work, everywhere! I think Nimrod would definately be a good start to the GreenDay catalogue.
