Just as people were beginning to think she had peaked (after the less than great CHAKA KHAN), she bounced back with this excellent set. Using a glut of producers--Mardin, Titleman, Foster and more--she attempted, and achieved, the combination of a great choice of material with the ability to keep her fans dancing. The Bacharach/Bayer Sager/Roberts "StrongerThan Before" is beautifully performed, and la-di-da, ex-Spooky Tooth Gary Wright wrote "My Love Is Alive". Prince's "I Feel For You" is another strong track, featuring the distinctive harmonica sound of Stevie Wonder. A pretty joyous albumfor dusting away cobwebs.

This lady has got what it takes...and then some... when it comes to belting out a song! Chaka is a diva among divas in the Soul world. She certainly lives up to her name (Chaka meaning "fire"), she burns with talent and there is no-one who can copy her, though many have tried! I Feel For You opens up with a wonderful dance track, "This Is My Night", racey, dancey and definitely a great opening track. Just to slow the mood down a little she then moves onto a ballad called "Stronger Than Before" where Chaka combines her own unique style and flair with that wonderful rich voice. "Eye To Eye" sweeps us along with its catchy intro while "My Love Is Alive" takes us back to the days of street rap and early hip hop. The title track "I Feel For You" combines 2 other talents here: Prince & Stevie Wonder making it a huge success 3 fold! "Hold Her" is another slower track but is no slouch when it comes to style. Most notable is the fantastic ballad, "Through The Fire" where Chaka really shows her diversity and vocal range. All in all, her best album yet!
