Product Description

From Amazon.com

Nicks will never again match the sales of her 1981 solo debut, Bella Donna (5.2 million units worldwide), but she continues to turn out dependable music on her fifth album and first since 1989. Lead single "Maybe Love Will Change Your Mind" plays to her strengths with mellifluous ease. --Jeff Bateman

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovin' It!, 17 Jun 2006

This album really confuses me. It gets a lot of mixed reviews yet it seems to take more of a beating than "Rock a Little" (1985) and I feel this is a better album. I really like this album. I mean yeh - it is certainly not the best Stevie Nicks album but it is most definatly not the worst. There is the odd song that i skip *cough-unconditional love-cough* but otherwise it is a fine album that belongs in any Stevie Nicks collection. The Stand out tracks for me are "Blue Denim", "Kick It", "Listen to the Rain" and "Rose Garden". This album definatly deserves it place in any Stevie Nicks collection. It is a very different sound to her previous work but it still ROCKS!

4.0 out of 5 stars I prefer to kick it!, 2 Sep 2006

When it comes to Stevie Nicks, she is a legend,a superstar,a talent without a doubt, and she has proved this over her long career, not only with Fleetwood Mac but as a solo artist also. Although i cannot deny this album is good, it's not up to the usual Stevie Nicks standard that i expected. Having said that, it is one of those "grow on you" type of albums and with several listens it slowly emerges as a good album, and nothing more. The title track, Street Angel, is definitely Stevie at her melancholy best with the deeply dark electric violin and drum intro. Her cover of Bob Dylan's classic,Just Like A Woman is a good one and very skilfully sung (Bob Dylan actually plays guitar and harmonica on this track!). In true Stevie Nicks style, she has used the words of an old song and turned it into a "new one" in only the way she can do and with style and flair, the track i refer to is Destiny (the words are from the Enchanted track on the album The Wild Heart). Save the best 'til last as the saying goes, and she certainly has done that here; Jane, or Jane's Song as it was released in the U.S.A. is a moving tribute to the Animal Rights lady Jane Goodall who died. Stevie really opens up her heart here and is a grand ending to the album.

4.0 out of 5 stars "you've gotta learn to carry that weight", 11 Jun 2002
By A Customer
I recommend it. It is catchy pop music (her lyrics aren't as tortured as on previous albums), and 2 songs are among my favourite Stevie songs - "Kick It" and "Rose Garden". ( This was written a long time ago and is amazingly prophetic). I'm not that keen on the cover of "Just Like A Woman" though.
