5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best Southern Rock Album Ever, 3 Oct 2003
By Chris Potter (Lincolnshire) - See all my reviews
A bit controversial I guess but I rate this album higher than anything produced by LS, MH et al. I first bought this on vinyl some 21 years ago and am glad to say it is as good and timeless as ever. Every track is good but real highlights are the soulfull Left Turn on a Red Light, the rocky and more commercial Baby Blue, the awesome cover of Free`s Wishing Well and the sublime Highway Song, which surpasses Freebird by some way. If like me this type of music turned you on in your formative years buy this and watch your hair grow as you listen to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blackfoot delivers a simple but strong message with music, 15 Sep 2000
By A Customer
Since growing up in a lively little town in Florida ,known for its superior southern rock bands,Blacfoot shares the spotlight with numerous bands from this city. But Blackfoot is all by themselves with the release of Strikes.Left turn on a red light is one of those that cannot be compared , shared or even matched by any other group . Let it be known that this band with all the comparisons to others stands alone . Greg drives himself ,soul and heart into each lyric as well as the others . I would rate this album as one of the top five ALL time .I know what Iam talking about.Hope this band continues to create fine music as they have shown that they can do

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock as it should be, undiluted, 9 Feb 2007
This review is from: Strikes (Audio CD)
The first time I heard strikes was around 1979, the year it came out I think. I paid a pound for it from reddingtons Rare Records in Birmingham, England because I liked the look of it.(it was in the cheap box outside the shop!!!) I was bowled over. A Southern Rock Band with absolute balls and guts. Skynyrdy? a little I suppose but with more volume, intensity and good honest backbone, jagged around the edges yet refined. A rough diamond!! Absolutely superb from beginning to end, from the opening bars of road fever down to the stunning gob iron on Train Train into the obligatory southern style anthem (freebird etc)that being Highway song which is short in comparison to that in brackets but nevertheless anthem in terms of finishing the album in style! ***** 5 Stars!! Love this album now as back then. Seen em in concert too and they are as good as this album.

In this CD Blackfoot shows that can compete perfectly with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet. Great record. Buy it!
