Product Description

CD Description

Led Zeppelin fans dazed from the 1980 death of drummer JohnBonham and the breakup of the group shortly thereafter didn't have to wait long for Robert Plant's first solo album, 1982's PICTURES AT ELEVEN. Following in the more modern rock direction that Zep was headed on their final release IN THROUGH THE OUTDOOR, PICTURES AT ELEVEN remains one of Plant's best solo albums.
By downplaying his former band's penchantfor stomping, guitar-based hard rock, Plant comes up with apretty original sound and direction overall - as proven by such highlights as "Moonlight in Samosa", "Slowdancer", and "Burning Down One Side". PICTURES AT ELEVEN signaled the return of Robert Plant, who spent the rest of the 1980s issuingsolid solo albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still sounds great 20 years on!, 1 April 2002

(REAL NAME)
Coming out in 1983 during the ascendancy of NWOBHM, "Pictures At Eleven" stands the test of time far better than similar contempories but is a very different album from latter Zeppelin issues, clearly intentionally. This, along with excellent drumming from Phil Collins (I have never heard him play better) and the late, great Cozy Powell (who plays here in true Bonham-esque style!) is one of this album's great strengths; coupled with a high quality BIG sound produced by Plant himself. Quality songs, quality musicians, quality sound. Buy it while you can!

4.0 out of 5 stars maybe the best plant solo album so far, 9 Oct 2000
By A Customer
the "pictures" album (1982) was plant's first album after zeppelin broke up in 1980. the album is a big surprise for the zep fans who listend to "in through the out door" from 1979. the "pictures" album is full with good songs like "slow dancer" and "like i've never been gone" after this one came the 1983 "principle of moments" which is also great album. but sadly, if you are a zeppelin fan you won't find in plant's or page's (or both or paul jones)legacy nothing that stands up to the magic of zepp.
