CD Description

This two-disc set contains almost all of the material from the band's live releases, and paints an accurate picture of the magic these trailblazing iconoclasts were capable of making onstage. Free from the strictures of the recording studio, the Doors were able to stretch out both musically and conceptually, with extended jams and Morrison's spontaneous poetics making once-familiar songs into exciting new explorations. Speaking of extended pieces, the full version of the legendary "Celebration of the Lizard" is included here, in all its extended, suite-like glory. In front of an audience, theband's more visceral side prospered as well, as witnessed by versions of "Roadhouse Blues" and "Love Me Two Times" thatmake the studio versions seem almost tame in comparison.

This is an excellent album which shows Morrison at his peak but beware this album has exactly the same,but more music on this one as 'Absolutely Live'.So I think this album is considerably better.

My girlfriend, friends and family let out a big sigh and roll their eyes in mock amusement when I start a sentence 'The Doors concerts in New York are the best live performances ever........'

They know it is going to be the begining of a 10 minute monologue about how when the door are in this kind of form they are unstoppable, dynamic, hypnotic...blah blah blah'.

I'll save you the time and simply say 'buy it now'.

This has everything Absolutely Live has and more. The performance are also duplicated on the doors box set, however if you are any kind of doors fan that should be on your shopping list too for the amazing studio versions of 'Queen of the Highway' and 'Moonlight Drive' alone.

Listen to Robbie's solo on '5 to 1' it still has an electrifying effect on me and I have listen to the album 100's of times.

"In concert" is a mix of three live cd's from the Doors live, there are so many live recordings available but the Doors (three)choose these songs. Light My Fire is super, Gloria also and The End is good. Jim is in good shape but in some songs a little bit tired?? Ray singing ? I am not so crazy about that, although in Amsterdam 1968 it is said he was great. Was it really?
The songs all together are good, the band plays as we want it, Jim has his good and bad moments. If you don't want to buy all the Doors live recordings and bootlegs, this is the one you have to buy. But be careful if you like this one you want to have more, just like I did long time ago..........
