2.0 out of 5 stars Top Blokes Make Bad Albums Too, 31 Jul 2003
By J. D. Ritchie (Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Sorry David... I admire the work of Gilmour immensly but there are insufficient expressions of disgust in the English language to express my dislike of this bland piece of session musician smoothness which is at the other end of the scale that the first Gilmour album was the top of. Instead of playing with the successful band that produced the first, utterly brilliant album Gilmour brought in hugely talented session men with no soul whatever. If you like empty meaningless music played with great skill then this will be perfect for you but if, like me, you prefer a little feeling in your music then do not touch "About Face" with 10 bargepoles tied together. I stood at the front of the queue to buy this on the 1st day of release expecting a worthy follow up to "David Gilmour" and listened a dozen times desperately trying to like it without avail.
Gilmour-Top musician. Album-Total misfire
