To the shock of audience's world wide, Spock was killed off at the end of Star Trek II the wrath of Kahn. After his work on this film, Horner was approached again and asked to score the third film. The Search for Spock, building on the already brilliant themes from Star Trek II, horner provides one of his best scores to date. The 8 minute long peace 'stealing the enterprise' has to be the highlight of the CD. Combining the fast string peace from the final of Trek II, and a march type peace with the star trek theme was a stroke of genius. The music goes from a 'stealthy' type peace into a faster pace as the ship is stolen. Finishing with a huge crescendo. An added bonus to this CD is the last song, Star Trek 3 The Search For Spock This is a synthesizer peace, which was not in the film, but has the themes from the film very well incorporated into it. It is in the late 80s style of music. Overall I can say that this soundtrack is a must for all trek fans and horner fans alike. The one point I have against the CD is that the Music from when the ship is set to auto destruct is not included, this is a shame as it was another moving and very well done peace, but don't let that spoil a great soundtrack!
