Whilst I rather like Scriabin's piano music, this CD of his Etudes would not be a first choice, regardless of price. Alexander Paley plays these pieces quite well, if lacking a little in colour, but the recoding is pretty flat.

In Naxos' early days, a lot of their piano recordings were critizised for poor sound and this CD suffers, even though it was recorded in 1994. Distant, reverberant and flat, one to avoid, I'm afraid. Try Lane on Hyperion.
