The 4th is Shostakovich's most "frightening" symphony and the Czecho-Slovak Symphony Orchestra, under Ladislav Slovak, performs it magnificiently. This is "cold Soviet steel". The sound of the recording is great. This is probably the best version of the 4th symphony.
