I first heard of the Geraldine Fibbers through a contemplation album, but then I finally bought their album, and wow. Just... Wow. The musical diversity they show, as well as their amazing knowledge of different instruments is pure genius. And the producing couldn't be any better then what you find on Butch. 'Toybox' and 'I Killed the Cuckoo' distinctly smell like grunge yet the use of classical instruments adds an element to the songs that sends tingles down your spine. Moving on to songs such as 'Folks Like Me' and 'Pet Angel' you find yourself trapped in a countrified trip where the music style reeks of heartache with bizarre subjects such as alien lovers and twisting ballads. Melancholic songs such as 'Butch' and 'Swim Back to Me' are hard and soft at the same time, whereas the instrumental 'Claudine' and 'Heliotrope', which integrate instruments such as a Celeste and Coda Psychosis are pure brilliance which wraps around your little minds and shatters them completely. If I had to compare them to another band I'm guessing that the closest I could get to describing them would be to say imagine the offspring of Liz Phair, Kurt Cobain and Black Francis. And then imagine that the one child from that unholy liaison formed a band. I'm guessing that would be the most accurate portrayal. Anyways, here's a clich� BUY THEIR ALBULM. And for the conclusion... "Stay out Stay back Stay black Kitty cat Black"
