Woolley provides sensitive and historically informed performances of Gibbons' works designed for organ on two historic Dallam organs in France. These alone would be well worth having, but we have the bonus of moving performances by the St. John's College choir. Under Robinson, they capture the varied moods of Gibbons, from fragile plea to exuberant hosanna.Moreover, much of the choral collection features less commonly recorded selections from Gibbons relatively small (but undeniably brilliant)anthem output. A must have album for choral music enthusiasts.
