Product Description

CD Description

The Heartbreakers revolved around two former members of theNew York Dolls, Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan. Having decamped to London in 1976, they became an integral part of theearly punk circuit before recording their solitary studio album. Although hampered by an insubstantial mix, the set contains some of the era's most expressive songs, notably "BornToo Loose" and "Chinese Rocks", the latter a chilling account of heroin addiction, co-written with Dee Dee Ramone. Tight, unfussy playing emphasises the power of material that proved pivotal in the development of the new music in both the UK and USA. Sadly, the featured line-up disintegrated soon afterwards and numerous permutations failed to recreate its strengths.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wicked punk rock stormer, 12 Nov 2000
This is an essential purchase for anyone interested in the New York punk scene, and is quite simply an incredible album. From the moment One Track Mind bursts into life you just know that this going to be one hell of a ride. The band are on top form, and Thunders and Lure play their hearts out. Nolans drumming is aggressive and hard but he also generates a really loose groove which give breathing space for the rest of the band to play with. This album also features some blistering guitar work from Thunders, most noteably on Pirate Love and It's Not Enough- a track which shows just what delicate player Thunders can be. Trust me, it's worth every penny.
