This is a book and a memorial commemorating logotypes (trademarks) which have vanished from our visual landscape - whether through mergers, acquisitions, rebranding or bankruptcy. Compiled and designed by The Stone Twins, the book records and bids farewell to an international selection of great graphic-symbols - many are icons of their time or deemed to be design classics, whilst others cost millions to be implemented only to be replaced within a year or two. The creation of the enfants terribles of the design world - the Dublin-born, Dutch based Stone Twins, who have become notorious for their subversive mock marketing campaigns, such as the one they devised for the Catholic Church, as well as their work for corporate clients like GlaxoSmithKline, Dockers and Levis - "Logos R.I.P" is an elegy for corporate lost causes. Featuring dozens of colour photographs of tombstones, plaques and headstones displaying the roll call of deceased logos, and with pages that are reverentially edged in sombre black, this book aims to inspire and provoke reflection, as well as a healthy dose of wry amusement as well as a touch of "schadenfreude".
