Product Description

Synopsis
Pellizza da Volpedo (1868-1907) constantly dealt with the artistic and intellectual climate of his time: due to Plinio Nomellini's influence he approached pointillism, realizing paintings such as "Mammine" (1892), while the exchange of letters with Angelo Morbelli brought him to study and examine closely the social theme and this was determinant for the realization of Pellizza's most famous painting: "Quarto Stato" (1901). This book is the catalogue of the anthological exhibition hosted at GAM (Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea of Torino) in September 1999, 20 years after the last retrospective, where the public was invited to view the whole production of one of the most relevant artists of the period between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century. The book goes over the entire creative course of the artist, reproducing over 80 paintings, each followed by a biographic schedule.
