Synopsis
The first volume in The Carlsberg Foundation's Gulf Project about the Danish archaeological investigations in Bahrain from 1953-1978. It contains the results of the investigations around the northern part of the city wall, which surrounded a larger city from the 3rd and 2nd millennium B.C., and an Islamic palace. The material from this investigation illustrates the changing cultural relations in Bahrain throughout more than three millenniums. The results of further excavations in the area will be published in the following volumes in this series.
