`An excellent guide' --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Book Description
This fifth edition of the book describes a total of 36 walks
in southern Spain, six in each of Andalusia's most beautiful National
Parks: Cazorla, Grazalema, Los Alcornocales, La Axarquía, La Alpujarra and
Aracena.

Each walk is given a detailed description as well as maps and photos. The
book is illustrated with my own colour photos and maps, too, are in full
colour.

And there is a general introduction to each of the different parks which
not only includes information on flora, fauna, geology, folk customs etc
etc but also listings on where best to stay, and where best to eat. After
all, a walking holiday is a sum of many different parts and I for one
believe that there is no better way to spend a day than to spend it
walking, and then stay at a simple, unaffected inn which is clean and
comfortable, and where regional and wholesome food is on offer.

The walks are, in general, easy to follow and a unique feature of the book
is that nearly all of the walks are circuits, meaning that you don't need
to worry about transport back to your car at the end of your rambling. Most
of the feedback that I have had over the years is that the route notes are
clear and concise. And the fact that the book is now in its fifth edition
is testimony to it having become a trusted companion.

But this book is first and foremost a celebration of the sheer beauty of
Andalusia's National Parks, and the ancient footpaths that crisscross their
Sierras or mountain ranges. It parts from the premise that walks belong to
nobody, and that the simple fact of going for a walk is one of the simplest
yet most complete of human experiences. When we walk we tend to leave our
worries behind us and instead encounter Nature in all her myriad forms. It
is a source of constant satisfaction to me that a small guide book, to
just one of the corners of our planet, has brought a great deal of pleasure
to many people.

We should all be walking more! --This text refers to the Paperback edition.
